Top Five Restaurants in Harrisonburg, Virginia

Written By: Chloe Thornton

Harrisonburg, Virginia, known as “The Friendly City” has dozens of restaurants within the city limits. Though it’s on the smaller side, this city is filled with fun activities and great restaurants. Though all of them are amazing, this list names the top five restaurants you should go to if you are in the area. Whether they are located downtown or on the more suburban side of the city, these top five restaurants are guaranteed to give you a great experience.

5. J-Petal Cafe

J-Petal is known for its amazing bubble tea and crepes, however, those aren’t the only things this cafe serves. J-Petal also offers great quality poke bowls. It has a great atmosphere and is the perfect place to meet up with friends, family, or a significant other. It’s located on the other side of a shopping center, perfect for running errands afterward. If you go here, you should get a bubble tea with your meal, as theirs is out of this world good. Of course, every restaurant on this list is based on my own opinion, but I promise you won’t be disappointed after going here.

4. A Bowl of Good

If you are looking for a sit-down restaurant with healthy vegan/vegetarian options A Bowl of Good is just the place for you. Their menu features lots of healthy food dishes from many different cultures. They use locally sourced ingredients in their dishes; you can taste the love in every meal. A Bowl of Good is not only a great place to go for lunch and dinner, but it is also open for breakfast. So if you happen to be in the area, you should check this place out!

3. Clementines

Clementine's is one of the many restaurants on this list that is located in the downtown area of Harrisonburg. It is a more upscale restaurant than the others on this list and sometimes even has live music. The restaurant has amazing scenery and great waitstaff. Their iconic blueberry iced tea is amazing and it’s honestly worth it to go just for that alone. They have amazing entrees as well, and I would personally recommend the steak. It is a great place to go, especially if you are looking for some nice, upscale dining.

2. Taste of India

Taste of India is one of the best restaurants on this list. Indian food is one of my favorite types of food, so I’m probably a little biased, but I promise Taste of India’s food is amazing. They have so many great options to order, but I would recommend their chicken tikka masala. Out of all the Indian restaurants in the area, this one has the best food. If you are looking for a great, tasty meal, then this place is for you.

1. Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza

Bella Luna is at the top of this list for many reasons. They have amazing wood-fired pizza, as well as some really great entrée options. The artwork and scenery tie it all together, making it, in my opinion, the best restaurant in the ‘burg. My favorite thing to get here is their margherita pizza. It’s always perfectly cooked and tastes amazing. If you want dessert after your meal, they have great tiramisu, but you can also just go across the street to their gelato and pastries shop. Bella Luna is the place to go in Harrisonburg and is one of its fanciest restaurants.

If you are ever in the area, make sure to check out these places. There are still dozens of amazing restaurants that just didn’t quite make the list, so anywhere you go to eat will give you a great meal. Harrisonburg, Virginia may be a small city, but as a local and a foodie, it has some of the best restaurants I have ever been to.
