6 Delicious Late-to-the-Party Burger Combos

Written By: Shawn Krajewski

It is July, specifically the week of the 4th! And even though you may be seeing this article after the holiday, that doesn't mean you should stop grilling some delicious burgers. As a sequel to my last article, I am going to be telling you about some fantastic burger topping combos that will truly make your burgers the talk of the town (or your friend group). These are all combos that are tried and tested as they are recipes that I and my family came up with.

The Smash

I would describe this burger as being perfect. Being a smash patty you can expect one thing from this combo and that's the delicious taste! For this combo, you will need lettuce, ketchup, a piece of good ol 'American cheese, and even a small hint of mayo to tie it all together.

The taste is not complicated. It is both beefy and cheesy and has a nice snap from the lettuce. Plus, the mayo and ketchup provide a sweet middle taste. The feel of this burger is incredibly soft and easy to eat, making it very good for people of all ages, including children who can't take large bites or chew well, older folks whose teeth have fallen out due to being in their wise years, and even people who just want a simple burger to enjoy with their family. Though be warned, the burger doesn't last long due to its smaller size, meaning you should probably make two.

The Robert

The Robert is a creation of my father. He has always favored double-smash patties, incorporating shredded lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, cheese, and two patties. This burger is excellent and includes more meat than regular smash burgers. So even though, it is a little difficult to eat, I still highly recommend this burger to every meat lover.

The Western

Open up the bars and get your nonalcoholic drink ready because up next we have the soggiest, sweetest, and most rootin' tootin' burger combo. With bacon, BBQ sauce, and pepper jack cheese on a full 8-ounce burger, the Western is for people who love to BBQ. If you love the taste of charcoal grill, this is the perfect burger for you! Speaking of which, I recommend cooking this patty on a charcoal grill. This burger combo is far sweeter than the others, but at the same time, it is savory due to the BBQ sauce and nice crispy bacon. Also, there is some heat packed into this burger because of the pepper jack. Overall, I love this burger and I will always recommend it with a root beer because it just fits the mood.

The Booshie

This burger is mild, slightly sweet, and hearty, featuring a substantial patty that can also be smashed if you want. Plus, this burger is complemented by the usage of a mild creamy goat cheese plus avocado; and nice sweet fresh tomatoes. Typically served with a tea of some sort, the Booshie is designed for those who enjoy the simple things in life, but feel as though the standard burger is lacking. It offers a slight twist from the ordinary burger without being overly complex, keeping a simple flavor profile that is both mild and delicious.

The American

This is the burger! When you go to a restaurant, and they serve a burger option, this is most likely the option you are going to get. And you can't blame them as this burger is a really good American-style burger. With an 8-ounce nonsmash patty, tomato, lettuce, ketchup, mayo, grilled onions, and cheese, I am sure you've had this burger before. It is especially good when enjoyed with your favorite non-brand-affiliated soda. In general, The American burger is always a really strong option to serve to someone if you don't know their burger preferences (however I would ditch the onions).

The Massachusetts Special (My Personal Favorite)

This is my burger. I designed every single aspect of this burger to be the perfect combination of flavors for people like me. The only way I could make it better was if it were a smash patty and not a normal 8-ounce patty. The ketchup and "Kewpie" mayo sauce blend gives this burger a slightly sweet flavor with a savory taste between the meat. Plus, there is a hint of avocado in this burger to give it a soft and fatty mouth taste...and just because I love the taste of avocado.

This burger combo also had American cheese just because it's good and lettuce to give it crunch and some healthy benefits. There is also bacon to make it stand out when compared to other burgers and to give it more of that crunch I was talking about earlier. Finally, to top it off, I recommend drinking an orange soda with it because it's my favorite type of sweet beverage. Lastly, I call it the "Massachusetts Special," but it's more of "my special" if that makes any sense.

At the end of the day, it is up to you what burger you have, this article only serves to provide you with ideas on toppings you can add to your burger. So, if you are feeling adventurous, you should try all of these options, maybe you will find a new favorite.
