Can you name a better Sunday night than football, friends, and food? I think the only thing that tops that is when that Sunday happens to be Super Bowl Sunday. One of the biggest hosting nights of the year. Luckily for you, if you’re hosting this year or next by the time this article comes out, don’t stress. I’ve got your menu covered. From kickoff snacks to halftime eats and, of course, desserts, there’s something for everyone.

1. Charcuterie Board

Charcuterie boards are a must for any event you're hosting, especially the Super Bowl. It gives your guests something to munch on while they're socializing, watching kickoff, placing their bets… the whole nine yards. Plus, they’re easy to throw together and fun to make. Grab some meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts, crackers, etc. of your choice, look up a Pinterest pic for a little inspo, throw on some party music, and get building. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can strategically place your meats to form a football shape and put strings of cheese on top to create the “laces.” I promise you the guests will eat it up, literally and metaphorically.

2. Sliders

Sliders scream football Sunday. There are also so many directions you can take sliders. Ham & cheese, BBQ pulled pork, buffalo chicken… The options truly are endless. My tip for making sliders is to assemble them ahead of time so that when your guests arrive, all you have to do is pop them in the oven. Ta-da! The steps to preparing your sliders will depend on what flavor/type of slider you choose to go with. However, a few steps remain pretty much the same no matter what slider combination you’re going for. They are as follows:

  1. Slice the Hawaiian/slider rolls in half (creating a top bun & bottom bun).

  2. Layer your toppings in the middle of the buns.

  3. Make a buttery topping to brush on the top buns. (Melted butter + Dijon or Worcestershire. Plus, a pinch of seasoning.)

  4. Brush it on top and bake at 350°F until everything melts together and the rolls are golden.

  5. Leave out any cold toppings and add those after if you are doing it this way.

3. Loaded Nachos/Tater Tots

I love any food item that has the word “loaded” in front of it. For a group like this, “loaded” can be achieved in a few different ways. The first, and the obvious option, is making loaded nachos or tots with a variety of toppings, sauces, and meats. Another great approach is setting up a topping bar. To do this, start with a large batch of basic nachos: chips, meat of your choice, and cheese. Then, put out small bowls of additional toppings like extra meats, sauces, tomatoes, green onions, jalapenos, and anything else you love on your nachos. This lets everyone customize their plate to their liking. Same deal with the tater tots if you’re going that route. My favorite Super Bowl nacho/tot combo has got to be either buffalo chicken (with blue cheese) or BBQ pulled pork with queso. Hits the spot every time!

4. Pigs in a Blanket

These are just classics. I feel that every party, no matter the occasion, theme, or season, needs pigs in a blanket on the menu. The good news is they don’t require much thought or attention. You can buy them pre-packaged and either bake in the oven at 375°F for 12-18 minutes, or Air fry them at 350°F for 6-9 minutes.

Or you can make them yourself, which is my recommendation since they’re still super easy! You’ll need crescent rolls or puff pastry, mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages, butter, and seasonings of your desire. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Heat oven to 375°F.

  2. Cut the crescent roll or pastry dough into small triangles/strips.

  3. Wrap the dough around each mini hot dog or sausage.

  4. Place in freezer for 15-20 minutes (helps pastry to stick to the meat).

  5. Take out and bake for 20-25 minutes (or until pastry is golden brown and crispy).

You can also make the dough from scratch using flour, butter, water, and salt if you’re feeling ambitious. I love pairing these with a fun dipping sauce. If you’re already making sauces for other dishes, feel free to double up and use one of those here. My top picks: honey mustard, ketchup, and queso. Extra points if you use yellow mustard to create the lace marks on them so they look like mini footballs.

Homemade Chicken Tenders & Fries

I love me some homemade chicken tenders and fries. I actually made these for my Super Bowl dinner this year, and it hit the spot. The added touch is to pair it with a sauce flight. Homemade if you’re feeling extra fancy. Think Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane’s, Big Mac, BBQ, and honey mustard. Then rate them all! An activity and a meal all in one. I use egg, panko (with seasoning), and flour for my batter, but you can get creative with it. There are a bunch of recipe options out there for homemade chicken tenders. Do some research and find one that matches your vibe. And now for the second part of this pairing: the fries! If you’re making these at home, you’ve got 5 quick steps:

  1. Wash potatoes

  2. Julienne (cut into skinny stick-like pieces) your potato(s) and dry

  3. Season them with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt, and toss them in olive oil.

  4. Cook them in the oven at 425°F for 35-40 minutes (flipping halfway through).

  5. Let cool and serve.

The combination of tenders, fries, and sauces is a chef’s kiss!

Desserts

Essentially, any normal dessert, but shaped like a football, will impress your guests and complement the theme for this portion of your menu. Some of my favorites are:

  1. Cupcakes or sugar cookies with team-color frosting, sprinkles, and fun designs like jerseys, helmets, or footballs

  2. Football-shaped cake pops decorated with white icing laces

  3. Pretzel rod football sticks: pretzel rods dipped in chocolate with white icing lines for the laces. You can do the same thing with chocolate-covered strawberries.

  4. Popcorn bar: Paired with various seasonings and sweet & salty toppings; chocolate drizzle, candy pieces, team color sprinkles

  5. Chocolate football brownies: Fudgy brownies cut into football shapes with white icing laces and (optional) team-colored sprinkles.

This lineup offers variety while still fitting the football theme. Guests will love it and appreciate the playful nod to the game.

I hope this Super Bowl menu serves as a solid guide for creating your own. No matter what you choose, the key to winning the Super Bowl spread is fun, flavor, and creativity. And, let me tell you, a little playfulness—like nods to the game or the teams playing—goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to get creative with shapes, colors, and presentation! With that, I wish you all a Happy Super Bowl and best of luck in creating your game-day dishes.
