With the holidays approaching, I thought it would be nice to bake a delicious hands-on dessert that allows your creativity to shine. Not just that, I wanted a dessert that would highlight a prominent winter figure, the snowman! So, I decided to make these cake pops that aren't just fun to make but also downright delectable. The red velvet flavor mixed with the cream cheese frosting and white chocolate coat makes this dessert a match made in heaven for all chocolate lovers. So without further ado, here’s my recipe for red velvet and chocolate cake pops.

Full Recipe:

Equipment:

  • 4-inch-wide cake pop sticks

  • Cardboard or styrofoam to place the cake pops in

Ingredients:

  • Red velvet cake mix

    • ½ cup oil

    • 3 eggs

    • 1 cup of water

  • 1 tub of cream cheese frosting

  • 1 bag of white chocolate chips

Step 1: Baking the Cake

  1. Follow the baking instructions on the box of your red velvet cake mix.

  2. Once the cake is baked, allow it to cool for 15 minutes.

  3. Next, remove it from the tin and put it into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Preparing the Cake Pops

  1. With the cake in a mixing bowl, use your hands to crumble it into small pieces.

  2. Add a ¾ scoop of cream cheese frosting to the cake and mix until combined.

  3. Once the dough is moist, scoop out a tablespoon and roll it into a small ball.

  4. Repeat for as many cake pops as possible with your dough.

  5. Place the cake pops on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for an hour.

  6. Once they are chilled, heat the white chocolate.

    1. Grab a medium saucepan and a small heatproof mixing bowl.

    2. Fill the saucepan with a half cup of water and put the heat on a low simmer.

    3. Balance the mixing bowl in the saucepan and add the white chocolate.

    4. Allow the chocolate to melt for around 4 or 5 minutes, stirring consistently.

  7. Dip each cake pop stick halfway into the melted chocolate before you stick them into the cake balls.

Step 3: Decorating the Cake Pops

  1. Dip each cake pop into the chocolate and coat the entire ball. Tap the cake pop lightly so the excess chocolate falls off.

  2. Place the finished cake pops in a cardboard box with poked holes so they stand upright.

  3. Allow them to cool for 15 minutes.

  4. Take the leftover white chocolate and separate it into two separate bowls.

  5. Color one bowl with brown (or black) food coloring and the other with orange coloring.

  6. Decorate your cake pops into snowmen with the chocolate.

  7. Allow the decorated cake pops to cool for 30 minutes before enjoying.

Overall, these cake pops are the perfect sweet treat for making with friends and family while watching a classic holiday movie. They are not only delicious but great at fostering time shared with loved ones. Happy holidays!
