Around the World in 5 Restaurants: Must-Try Spots in Gwinnett, Georgia

Written by Lauren Graham

What makes Gwinnett, Georgia, unique is the cultural diversity. It's one of the top things I love about my county here in Georgia. Gwinnett is a county where you can expand your horizons and experience different cultures. In fact, Gwinnett is the most diverse county in all of Georgia! So if there's anywhere to eat all sorts of food from around the globe, Gwinnett is the place. This article lists some of my favorite restaurants in Gwinnett, so the next time you find yourself in Gwinnett, you can expand your palate and treat your taste buds to any of these outstanding places.

Mexican Food

Looking for delicious Mexican food and street food? Look no further than Don Pedro, a popular chain restaurant in Gwinnett. Don Pedro is dedicated to providing its customers with authentic and quality food. Their menu features classic Mexican staples like carne asada tacos, sopitos, and tortas. Their food is always freshly prepared and seasoned to perfection. Plus, nothing hits the spot like a couple of mulitas and a Jamaican Agua Fresca. Overall, food from Don Pedro leaves you feeling satisfied and ready for more.

Thai + Japanese Food

SriThai is another delicious Georgia chain restaurant celebrating the fusion of Thai and Japanese cuisine. From sushi hand rolls to a warming bowl of Tom Kha Gai, SriThai has no shortage of comforting East Asian dishes. Their extensive menu features classic Thai plates like comforting Massaman curry and pad see ew. However, if you crave sushi, they also offer a variety of specialty rolls and sashimi platters to enjoy. My favorite item to order is a big bowl of green curry paired with sweet Thai tea. Now, if you have a sweet tooth like me, their mango sticky rice always hits the spot.

Greek, Iranian, Turkish Food

Are you in the mood for a taste of the Mediterranean? Well, Opa! Gyros & Kabob is the perfect spot to indulge in savory Greek, Iranian, and Turkish dishes. This restaurant combines flavors of Iran and the Mediterranean islands to create a menu filled with delicious meals. For appetizers, I recommend their tangy dolmades drizzled with pomegranate sauce. I also love their Koobideh kabob wrap. It is packed with juicy meat, and the roasted lemon potatoes are fresh and herby. Also, if you love tea like me, make sure you try their fragrant rosewater sweet tea. Overall, any dish from Opa! Gyros & Kabob is a Mediterranean experience.

Cuban Food

Whenever I want a home-cooked meal away from home, I head over to D’Cuban, a cozy restaurant that brings the bold taste of Cuba right to Gwinnett. D’Cuban automatically transports you to the streets of Cuba with its colorful decor and welcoming ambiance. You also can’t go wrong with their delicious menu items, either. For a snack on the go, their freshly fried beef and chicken empanadas are perfectly crispy and stuffed with tasty filling. However, if you crave comfort in a bowl, their slow-roasted beef ropa vieja bowl paired with a tart and sweet passion fruit juice is sure to satisfy you.

Indian Food

If you want to nourish yourself with the spicy and rich flavors from Northern India, then you have to try Masti: Indian Street Eats. Not only do they serve popular Indian street snacks, but they also have full-on-plate meals. Their menu features an extensive list of the many diverse and delicious dishes that Northern India has to offer. My favorite item on their menu is the saag paneer, made with green vegetables cooked with fried cheese cubes and aromatic spices. When you pair it with garlic, cilantro naan, and a sweet and refreshing mango lassi, you are in for a flavorful experience!
