Let me introduce you to the most convenient, easy, and yummy pizza. This recipe only requires 2 ingredients and you probably already have these ingredients in your house right now. So, right away I am eliminating grocery trips for you. Now for the big reveal of the three ingredients: nonfat Greek yogurt, flour, and baking soda. You can subtract an ingredient if you use self-rising flour. I prefer self-rising flour because it’s a little less sticky when combined with the yogurt, but both work well.
The first thing to do is preheat your oven to 400°F. Then, add your cup of yogurt and cup of flour to a mixing bowl, and mix. If you used regular flour instead of self-rising flour, add a tsp of baking soda to the mixture. Add about a tbsp of flour at a time as you stir. (I usually have to add around 1-2 tbsp of flour throughout as I mix.) Once the dough starts to come together, which usually occurs after 2.5 minutes of stirring and adding additional flour, you can start the kneading process. Rub a little flour on your hands and begin kneading the dough. This step will be messy, but trust the process! This step is also where you will know if you need additional flour or yogurt in your mixture. If your dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If the flour is clumping up in the bowl, add a smidge more yogurt to your mix.
Once the dough is fluffy and stretchable, add it to a pizza stone. Alternatively, you can also use a pan with parchment paper. Start spreading the dough out on the pizza stone/pan, adding sprinkles of flour if needed to avoid holes in your dough. Feel free to use a rolling pin here if you have one. Get creative with your shapes here—the dough is your canvas! Once stretched to your desired pizza shape, pop your dough in the oven for 5 minutes to pre-cook. You can use these 5 minutes to prep some of your topping ingredients.
There is no wrong way to go when choosing your toppings. I have used a variety of different sauces, cheeses, and meats. I have a cheese grater at home, so I will grate about 1 ¼ cups of cheese to top my pizza. When the 5 minutes are up, take your pizza out of the oven. Add about ¼ to ½ cup of pizza sauce depending on how saucy you want your pizza to be. Spread the sauce around the dough. Next, take your 1¼ cups of cheese and layer that on top of the sauce. Finally, add any additional toppings you like to your pizza.
Pop it back in the oven for another 12-14 minutes. I usually set a timer for 10 minutes, poking the dough with a fork to check it to see how much more time the pizza needs in the oven. When the time is up, let it cool, cut, and enjoy your masterpiece. This recipe is that simple!
This pizza dough has proven to be a fan favorite on
many occasions. I have brought it as a party dish for family and friend gatherings, and I’ve made it for my brother, who rated this pizza a 10/10, which rarely happens. It’s a fabulous dish for any type of weather, gathering, or group. Have fun with it, get creative, and spread the love!
