A couple of days ago, I had the pleasure of eating dinner at Raik Mediterranean, a wonderful restaurant with a great ambience and even better cuisine. This Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant is located in downtown Suwanee, a charming city right outside of the Metro Atlanta area. The restaurant features a menu filled with delicious cuisine from the Levantine region, including za’atar flatbreads and fattoush salad. If you enjoy the wonderful flavors of the Mediterranean like I do, be sure to try out this delicious restaurant the next time you visit Suwannee, Georgia. Here are just a few amazing dishes you definitely can’t miss out on.
Plates to Share:
Hummus and Pita
There’s nothing better than a classic hummus plate served with fresh, hot pita. Raik Mediterranean’s hummus is smooth and perfectly simple. It’s made with tahini, lemon juice, a healthy dose of olive oil, and garlic, and topped with chickpeas and parsley. Raik’s hummus gets better with each bite, and before you know it, the plate will be cleared. Plus, their pita is soft, fluffy, and served piping hot. Together, they make the perfect combination!
Cauliflower
If you’re looking for an appetizer that’s unique and bursting with flavor, then look no further than the fried cauliflower plate to share. Now, this is not your average cauliflower dish. The meat of the vegetable is perfectly crisp on the outside and cooked to perfection. It almost melts in your mouth! And, paired with the sweet, herbal, and creamy dill sauce with red pepper flakes, this dish is absolutely addictive.
Raik Salad
Raik Mediterrenanen’s house salad is inspired by Persian and Levantine flavors. It’s delightfully fresh, bright, and tangy. The salad is a colorful combination of red and yellow harvest tomatoes, Persian cucumber, sliced red onion, arugula, parsley, and sumac. Topped with a zingy lemon vinaigrette, the Raik salad is an amazing appetizer to share.
Arayes
This was my absolute favorite dish here at Raik. Arayes are a popular Levantine dish commonly enjoyed throughout the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean regions. It’s traditionally made with minced beef or lamb with aromatics such as onion, garlic, and parsley and stuffed into pita bread. At Raik, they are topped with sweet pickled radish and fresh parsley and served with tahini dipping sauce.
Entrees:
Kabobs
Raik has a wonderful variety of kabobs to choose from. But my favorite had to be the Chicken and Beef. Kabobs. The chicken was moist, tender, and seasoned to perfection. Plus, it was paired with Toum, a Lebanese garlic sauce that has an amazing flavor. Lastly, the beef kabob was an herbal mixture of minced lamb, beef, onion, and parsley. It was incredibly moist and tasted amazing with the parsley and dill sauce. Each kabob was served with an aromatic basmati rice topped with pickled cabbage and parsley.
Dessert
And last but definitely not least is the sweet and nutty tahini-flavored cookie. Topped with rich chocolate drizzle, light vanilla ice cream, and halva that melts in your mouth. It was the perfect dessert to end the perfect dinner!
